Terms & Conditions
Last updated 3 November 2026
These terms apply to your use of diwali.lol and deepavali.lol (the “Site”), operated by Justin Benito B (“we”, “us”). By using the Site or releasing a lantern, you agree to them.
The service
Diwali · Lanterns of Love lets you publicly dedicate a digital lantern to someone you love, your company, yourself, or simply to the light in the world. A lantern carries your message, the name you choose, and an optional photograph, and it floats in a shared sky on the Site that anyone can view.
During Diwali week we gather every lantern released on the Site and send them up together as real lanterns, as one collective gesture. Lanterns are not released individually, and nothing physical is delivered to you.
Price and payment
Each lantern costs the price shown on the Site at the time of purchase (currently ₹49), inclusive of any applicable taxes. Payments are processed securely by Razorpay. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details. Your lantern is released immediately after your payment is confirmed.
Your content
Your message, name and photograph are public. By releasing a lantern you confirm that:
- you have the right to share the photograph, and anyone recognisable in it is happy for it to be public;
- it isn’t unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, defamatory, or an infringement of anyone else’s rights;
- it doesn’t contain anyone’s private information without their consent.
You keep ownership of your content. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display it on the Site and in sharing previews for as long as the lantern is shown.
We may hide or remove any lantern that breaks these terms, or that we receive a valid complaint about, without a refund. To ask for your own lantern to be removed, write to hi@justinbenito.com.
Availability
We work to keep the Site running smoothly but can’t promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything relating to a lantern is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page, with its date, is the one that applies.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
